Installing Computer Memory
A computer memory is one of the easiest computer components to install and can take as short as 3 minutes. However, you are allowed to take as much time as possible, if only to be more careful. The first thing you need to do is shut down your computer and switch the power off. Unplug the power cable. Remove the cover or panel, whichever is used to enclose your CPU. Locate the memory slots on the motherboard. Some are very conspicuous while others may be well hidden by the drive. For such, you need to remove the overlaying parts to access them. Ensure that the notch on the memory is aligned to that of the slot and insert carefully, pressing down the memory on both sides. When properly inserted, it clicks into place with ease and pushes the clamps into place. Tighten the clamps to secure the memory onto the motherboard and you are done.
You can then return the cover or panel and close it up once more. Replace any screws you might have unfastened and put the power cable back on. You can now power up your machine. Allow the system to detect the memory. You may need to go to the computer BIOS for this. Keep referring to your manual for specific instructions.
